5. Tackle cornering by interviewer by humour (not by getting angry)

6. Never say negative about current company or boss (even if you want pour out your mind, do not get provoked in interview)

7. Always take a pause before starting reply even if you know the reply very well, it shows you are composed and thoughtful. Do not treat it as bullet round or knockout question

8. do not get nervous by seeing some more

impressive looking other candidates who have come for interview.

9. Ensure wearing tie properly. If you finding it difficult better go without tie

10. keep diary in hand and whenever, interviewer talks something useful, note down in his presence. He likes it and you also can ensure that you have notes. Get into habit of noting points, not full. Or else you cannot match speed of his talking

11. Look stylish while noting down as well. And may be ask a knowledge-seeking question to him

12. At the end you may be asked, "would you like to ask any question a) do not say "NO questions. b) do not say "what will be my salary" (shows you greedy) c) do not say "what will be my job profile" (you cannot or should not be going for interview without knowing at least broad job profile) d) ask questions like i) how much travelling work may involve, or ii) what could be my long term growth prospects or iii) what way management encourages employees to upgrade their skills continuously

13. Do not hide obvious limitations if you have a) if you cannot seat late, b) you cannot do outstation travel c) you cannot work on weekends. Of course, higher the limitations lower are number of position or lower the salary

14. tell me about yourself should be answered in 13 lines 3,4,4,3 intro, education, workex, personal. After work-ex take a pause and see whether interviewer wants to listen further and then speak further on personal count.

15. If interviewer is argumentative either by nature or by design. Just keep reply to the point. Avoid clash.

16. If more than one interviewer, then rotate your eyes while replying

17. Do not start your answer with the word "NO". In fact, overall avoid the word "no" "not"

18. Avoid the word "basically". I have seen many CA and CMAS use that word frequently at start of every sentence. One of our HR VP who was jointly interviewing me, made the remarks "candidate has only basic knowledge"

19. Do not interrupt questions of interviewer. In fact, take a pause, because interviewer may not have completed the question and you may interrupt his pause, by misinterpreting it as completed sentence

20. do not reach late for interview. Should you end up in being late, simply apologise without excuses. If at all reasons are asked. Just say "sorry, I messed up" Do not tell long stories of late train, late bus, taxi failed, etc.

21. cleverly ensure to divert discussion towards your strength areas

22. give very short answers to questions on your weak areas, unless that is important part of your job profile in new job. In that case, better to accept in mind that you are under-prepared and hence come out respectfully and work on strengthening those areas or change your expected profile

23. Attend every interview. Experience of interview does not matter. It is a learning process.

24. If in doubt, about an answer, then still give it with a caveat. You can never deal interviews with 0% risk

25. As soon as you come back, study answers of questions including those you could answer rightly, partly or wrongly. It helps in future

26. Do not keep on using the word

"unfortunately"

27. Do not start with words "Basically I am a fresher* This is interpreted as "YOU KNOW NOTHING and WOULD LIKE TO JOIN AS TRAINEE" You are underestimating value of articleship.
